The correct way not to schedule your next camping trip

Because of the advent of July you could say that summer is now in total bloom. And what better way to enjoy in summer than with that ultimate of summertime entertainments – proceeding to another part of the nation you are not familiar with in order to live in a tent and eat frequently burned or slightly cooked food. The best part is, enjoy the magic of getting your water from a faucet down the street (if you are lucky) instead of from the customary and convenient to use sink in your home. And let us not overlook the magic of getting up in the middle of the night to grope around for a flashlight so you can hike through the dark unknown to a frosty unlit toilet, at times even of the type that is not even more than a elementary hole in the ground. Sure enough, it is time for that wonder of wonders – camping!

I must acknowledge to enjoying camping, always have. When I was a child we would certainly all look forward to that two week trip in the summer. Many months before my Dad would take out the maps of the border states and begin to have a discussion with my Mother about the numerous worth of the Oregon Coast compared to the mountains of Washington. They normally would send away for a variety of catalogues and look at a lot of campgrounds prior to making the selection. Needless to say, today it is all easily a matter of pulling up a few searches on the internet to see which State Parks are even accessible for camping. If you are located in California, as I do, you will need to search a little more than most except if you made a reservation at the least a year in up front. I know of some sites that open up for reservations on the same day every year and are reserved solid inside a few hours for the complete season.

That said, I nevertheless sensed a little excitement when a friend of my own and I made a decision that in 2010 we truly were going to camp together. We had spoken of this this past year, but in some way neither of us ever got around to taking care of it therefore we never went. But this year, I am determined to obtain us a camping site and a weekend getaway. Our primary choice, Catalina Island’s Two Harbors appeared very good in the beginning. The net site was easy to find, all the sites had calendars telling us those were booked and which ones were obtainable. But after a number of emails back and forth, we confirmed that the only weekend left accessible in the summer was the weekend she was traveling away to a Yoga Retreat. So, regretfully, we made a decision that the journey to Catalina Island would have to wait for a different time.

I am nonetheless on the hunt for another campsite but this time around I have no illusions. For me to locate something halfway respectable that isn’t booked will probably mean going out of the state. I am organizing to start looking real soon. I may even find something today or tomorrow. Just as soon as I get this blog carried out, my writing jobs submitted and the pages added in to my own sites. Well, possibly I will get to it tomorrow. But this week – I mean it – I will get that camping trip arranged.
